Removing oil stains from clothes, fabrics, concrete and other materials, is often an extremely tough job. They don’t tend to go even after you try a number of things to remove them. If you are one of those being troubled by oil stains on clothing and fabrics, no need to worry anymore. Here are some tips for you to effectively remove oil or grease stains from fabrics. However, remember that it’s important to remove oil and grease stains as soon as possible. The longer the stain is left, the harder it becomes removing it.

1. Dish Soap and Cornstarch:
Lay the piece of clothing over a flat surface, and then sprinkle cornstarch liberally on the stain. Let it get soaked in for a minimum of 30 minutes, although 1 hour is more preferable. Then, rub some dish soap on the stain (a nail brush can be used for this, for getting into the fibers). Finally, wash by following the directions given in the care label. Air dry.
2. Hair Spray:
Hair spray is a good stain-removal tool. Spray hair spray liberally over the grease or oil stain. The hair spray should instantly take out a large portion of the oil. Wash then and air dry.
3. Cheez Whiz:
If you go for this, no need to let it sit on the stain for some time. Simply apply some Cheez Whiz over the grease or oil stain, and smear it on the stain. Throw the clothing in the wash then, and the oil or grease should get removed.
4. Shampoo:
Now this makes sense. Shampoo is meant to clean natural oils and grease from your hair. Why not apply it for clothing? Just take some of the shampoo you use usually, and rub it on the stain for a pre-treatment. Wash then, as per the directions. This should work amazingly.
5. WD-40:
WD-40 not only works for fabric, but also for concrete when it comes to removing oil and grease stains. You must be having the item in your garage, where you are quite likely to get some oil stains on your clothing. Just spray some WD-40 over the stain, and allow it to get soaked for about 30 minutes. Rub a bit of dish soap then, and wash according to the directions.
The next time you need to remove oil or grease stains from any clothing or fabric, do not fear. Just grab one of these stain removal tools, and follow these tips. The stains would be gone sooner than you guess.
