LG Brings Outs Its 5-inch Flexible And Unbreakable Plastic OLED HD Panel

LG has always been in the news ever since the company announced the arrival of its 55-inch curved ‘OLED’television. The official display of the TV was slated to be at the Annual Society for Information Display (SID) Week 2013 which was held in Vancouver from May 19th to may 24th. However, it was again LG who took the world of technology by surprise when it recently revealed its plans to demonstrate something more at SID – a 5-inch flexible and unbreakable plastic OLED HD panel.

Quite understandably, the panel is designed for mobile devices, but the plastic substrates with which it is made of makes it unbreakable as well as bendable. Now that is one quality every clumsy mobile device owner always longed to have, given the fact that their mobile devices tend to have an unfortunate luck with frequent falls and bumps. Above all, the company aims mainly at its main objective which is making the panel as much cost-effective as possible.

Reports have revealed that the panel has withstood all the tests which has been done on it. Starting form hitting it hard with a hammer to twisting and turning it in every possible way – the panel has passed the tests with awe-inspiring results. Moreover, the weight adds to the appeal of the panel. When held on hand, the panel feels like a thick film strip and is extremely light in weight.

Although the panel will initially support only HD display, LG plans to modify and make it adjustable to all mobile devices. As of now, we keep our hopes high as LG has promised to debut the panel at the last quarter of this year.
