Are the window blinds and curtains obstructing a killer view from your house? Glass windows can be just the thing you are looking for. However, glass windows also come with a bad reputation of disrupting the privacy. SONTE, a startup from Northern California has designed a glass covering whose level of transparency can be controlled from your smartphone. Are you amazed? So was I when I came to know about this piece of beauty.
SONTE has come up with a window film which is Wi-Fi enabled. Once you place the film over an existing glass window and plug it into the Wi-Fi-enabled transformer, you will be able to control its level of transparency with your smartphone. In short, you can decide when your glass windows will turn opaque or remain transparent.
The film is extremely easy to install. Firstly, you need to measure the size of the window and then, cut the film to the right measurements. The film can easily stick on the glass using its self-adhesive. Secondly, you need to use the conducting clips and add them onto the film. The film will be ready to use once it is plugged in to the Wi-Fi transformer. Lastly, you need to download the app specially designed for the film on your iOS or Android mobile device. You can use this app to control the transparency settings of the glass.
The film is efficient in providing UV protection, and when in opaque mode, can act as a projector screen. This makes it ideal for usage in homes as well as in offices. The project is currently on Kickstarter and is slated to raise $200,000. It has been successful in raising around $32,000 in just three days.
